Date: March 07 Party: Me and Drew Trail Length: 10.5 Days on Trail: 1 Trail Notes: Quebec Run was supposed to be a nice little two day trip in the woods. Even though it was March, Pittsburgh had been receiving weather in the 70s. So, it seemed like a great time to squeeze in a little hike. When we got to the trail, there was no 70 degree weather, and there was still snow on the ground...a good bit of snow! Well, being as stubborn as we are, we decided to hike in a couple miles and then decided if we wanted to continue. Of course, one we started, there was no way we were turning back because of a little snow. This trail really gave Drew and I a confidence boost in what we could handle. We covered 10 miles of medium terrain in wet, slick conditions. It's much more difficult to hike in snow, you have to pick your feet up on every step and you have to pay much more attention where you set it down. On top of that, you're always working to keep your balance as you slip a little here and there. After hiking for most of the day in the snow, we decide we didn't want to pitch our tents, and sleep in it as well. So, we pushed on to the truck and finished off the trail. |
