Quehanna Trail - 2007

Date: August 07
Party: (from left to right) Me, Lance, Jeff
Trail Length: 75
Days on Trail: 6
Trail Notes:

We finally finished a trail!

So the actual trail is only 73 miles, but we found a short cut that added two miles (by turning the wrong way at an intersection). All in all, we consitantly did 14 miles a day except for the last day, which was shorter so we could drive home. To this point, I had never done a 14 mile day, so to do 5 of them was pretty lofty. I faired well, but I'm not sure I could do too much more in a day at this point.

This was a nice trail, very well marked and had a variety of terrain. There were several flat, smooth sections going through fern groves, as well as some wicked long and steep inclines and declines. Seriously, the guys that blazed that trail must have never heard of switchbacks. These inclines were worse than Pikes Peak.

The trip was interupted twice with adreneline rushes as Jeff and Lance nearly stepped on rattle snakes. I was fortunate enough to only see dear and chipmonks (no complaints).

I really enjoyed this trail, it was by far the longest I've done so far, and I'm really pleased with my performance. Also, I was great to get away from everything for a week.
